Classical busts

I model a bust portrait in several sittings of for example 2 hours. The sittings take place in my studio, or on request I can come to your home or to your town. Children are modelled in a sitting of one to two hours, in the duration of which they may watch a film or listen to a story being read to them.

The bust portrait is modelled in clay; once completed, a plaster cast is made from the portrait. This reworked plaster cast is used to make a silicone mold which can be used to create as many final sculptures as you wish; in your choice of concrete, plaster, clay or bronze, of which the bronze sculptures are cast by a bronze founder. A patina is applied to final sculptures to give a surface finish.

Good photographs are essential for the quality and character of the portrait. Please take photos of the person whose portrait is to be created in the views depicted. Ensure that the light conditions are favourable, and the photographs are in focus.

Mit der Oberflächen-Veredelung, der Patinierung, erhält jedes Portrait eine individuelle Farbe und Textur. Dieses Finish besteht aus natürlichem Bienenwachs, gemischt mit ursprünglichen mineralischen Farbpigmenten.

Wählen Sie aus diesen Farbvarianten:

Bronze klassisch: Eine Farbgebung in dunklem Braun und Schwarz, akzentuiert mit feinen bronze-goldenen Glanzpunkten, die an klassische Bronzeskulpturen erinnert.

Bronze  antik: Diese Farbe imitiert die Grünspan-Auflage wie sie auf antiken, vor allem griechischen Bronzeskulpturen zu finden ist.

Grau modern: Ein klares und kühles Hellgrau, das an modernen Sichtbeton erinnert. Die Zugabe von schwarzem und weißem Pigment hebt dabei die Plastizität von tiefen oder hohen Partien leicht hervor.

Terrakotta-Rot: Die natürliche, braunrote Färbung des Tons wird beibehalten und nur durch eine geringe Menge Farbpigment vorsichtig hervorgehoben. Das Ergebnis ist ein leicht changierendes, warmes Terrakotta im Stile altrömischer Portrait-Köpfe.

By means of patination, the surface finish, each portrait receives its own colour and texture. I will finish your sculpted portrait with a mixture of natural beeswax and pure mineral pigments.

This final step will seal and protect the clay, and lend your portrait a pleasant feel. The patina ensures that you will receive an object that you will enjoy looking at and touching. 

Select one of these colour variants:

Bronze-classical:  The colours here are dark brown and black, accented by fine, golden-bronze highlights with an effect reminiscent of classical bronze sculptures.

Bronze-antique:  The colour imitates the coating of verdigris that appears on antique bronze sculptures, primarily those from ancient Greece.

Grey-modern:  A clear, cool light grey that is reminiscent of modern concrete. The addition of black and white pigments emphasizes hollows and highlights to underscore the portrait’s three-dimensional character. 

Terracotta-red:  The natural, reddish brown colour of the clay remains the base colour. A small amount of pigment carefully creates highlights.

The result it is a slightly shimmering, warm terracotta in the style of ancient Roman portrait busts.
